St. Clare of Assisi Parish

Parish History of St. Clare of Assisi Parish
Formation and Background

St. Clare of Assisi Parish was established on July 1, 2023, through the merger of St. Colette Parish in Rolling Meadows and St. Cecilia Parish in Mount Prospect. This new parish embodies the rich traditions and spiritual journeys of both communities, uniting them in a shared mission of faith and service.
St. Colette Parish
Founded in 1957, St. Colette Parish emerged to serve the growing population of Rolling Meadows. Named after the French saint and reformer, St. Colette, the parish focused on education, social justice, and spiritual growth. Over the years, it became known for its community outreach, youth programs, and vibrant liturgical life, fostering a strong sense of belonging among its members.
St. Cecilia Parish
Established in 1967, St. Cecilia Parish has deep roots in Mount Prospect. Named in honor of the patron saint of music, St. Cecilia, the parish developed a strong musical tradition that enhanced its liturgies and community life. Throughout its history, St. Cecilia engaged its members through educational initiatives and service opportunities, making it a cornerstone for local families.
The Merge
The merger of these two parishes is part of the Renew My Church initiative, aimed at responding to the evolving dynamics of the local community and strengthening the Catholic presence in the area. Both parishes share a commitment to inclusivity and community building. St. Clare of Assisi Parish will honor the rich legacies of St. Colette and St. Cecilia while creating new opportunities for worship and community engagement.
Community and Future
St. Clare of Assisi Parish is dedicated to fostering a welcoming environment that honors its diverse heritage. With a focus on collaboration, the parish offers various programs, including youth ministry, adult faith formation, and outreach initiatives. Ensuring that all members feel valued and connected is a priority.
As St. Clare of Assisi Parish looks to the future, it is committed to nurturing a spirit of faith, hope, and love, continuing the traditions of St. Colette and St. Cecilia while building a vibrant, unified community in Christ.
